Last week I took delivery of the WIRED (Seiko sub-brand) AGAT729, a watch made in collaboration with !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and limited to 1,500 pieces, sold only in Japan. Luckily I was able to find a Japanese retailer that boasts free international shipping and I placed my order the day they went on sale. It’s a quartz movement, but the chronograph measures out to a tenth of a second, something none of my other watches do. There are a lot of really neat details on this piece, like the minute indices being printed on the crystal, the neat texture from 5:00 to 9:00, and the subtle gold inlay around the 1/10 sec subdial and the date window.
I swapped the rubber strap it came with for a black NATO strap with gold hardware to match the accents on the watch. It fits my wrist quite well; I’ve been enjoying wearing it. There’s even a bit of lume on the hour indices and hands!

Watchlopnik = EDC for watch nerds.

Nice choice on the strap. Hope the crystal holds up, that’s a nice showpiece.

is it? I mean, EDC is simply the crap you lug around all day. Everyone needs and has that.
Nobody needs a watch.

Wow, that's neat!

Thanks, I do worry a bit about damaging the crystal, but I’m not going to keep it in a box and never wear it. Just too cool not to show it off.

Nobody needs to carry three sets of car keys at the same time, either, but some people do, presumably because it’s convenient. I find it convenient to know the time and date, and sometimes to time the duration of things, without using my phone. Might as well choose a watch that looks nice and talk about it with like-minded people.

I mean..I do, because all my cars are parked in a single line.

I loved watches at one point, but these days have a pretty strict “do I really need this?” criteria that has to be met for me to purchase something

It’s not the simplest design by any means, but I have plenty of other watches with simple designs. I don’t find this one hard to read.

And hey that's all that matters!

That’s a great looking piece, I really like the lugs . I’d be terrified of destroying the crystal though!

Dope watch. I love blacked out watches. That one has some nice details. A little odd is the labeling of date, minutes, and seconds . It works though. I think they need to have more faith in their customer base to figure these things out lol

Thanks! Yoji Shinkawa, the lead art designer at Kojima Productions designed the watch . The labeling is something of a Shinkawa style motif. He designed both of these characters/costumes. He tends to use small labeling as detailing on his character/mech designs.
There’s even a bit of faux-labeling on the top of the Kojima Productions logo he designed:

I work in an office, so risk of damage is pretty low. I’m also pretty reflexively protective of my watches around doorknobs, corners, etc.

I knew that sounded familiar. Very cool
